Destination Wedding - Invitations to the Chateau

Perhaps this weekend you will travel to a far-flung destination. Or perhaps your destination will be a wedding at a chateau in France. That was the plan for Emily and Clement as they invited friends and family recently to Chateau de Vaugrigneuse to share their joy.

It is often said that the invitation sets the tone for the event. These are words we live and die by here at Bespoke Designs. I’ll share a little of how we work our magic.

On a dark and snowy afternoon our bride Emily shared her vision for her wedding in her fiance’s home country. Here are some of her directives: chic, understated, elegant, the chateau (#duh!), early autumn colors, one full invitation suite in English, one full suite in French, hand calligraphy. Ok….got it!

The result: the text is a classic serif font in the subtlest oyster grey, letter pressed on thick luscious natural white paper. A watercolor of the chateau to reflect the pale golden and lavender light of early fall – just perfect for the lining of the inner envelope. One set in English; check. One set in French; double check. And hand calligraphy guest addressing in a mix font styles in lavender; triple check.

The invitation most definitely set the tone for this event. And when the new couple shared photos with us of the glorious day, it was a thrill to see it all come to life.
