To the Mother of the Bride, the Mother of the Groom, and all the Moms

Let’s say cheers to the moms! To the aunts, grandmas, stepmoms, big sisters, cousins, all the “mothers and others” who are there for us at life’s special moments. This is a time to express love and thanks.

In my event branding and invitation design studio, I spend time with so many moms. I see the mother-daughter dynamic up close. While my focus is sharing the love stories of couples, I am reminded that the original love story is mother and child. It’s an epic relationship. There is a real intimacy between mothers and daughters. I feel privileged to be a small part of that journey.

I see mothers who are incredibly supportive and excited to be part of their daughter’s wedding planning. I see daughters including their mom as a trusted advisor. I love experiencing the mother’s joy and pride. It’s interesting to see how moms navigate the process: letting their daughter lead, offering suggestions with tact and patience. I love to see brides (and grooms, of course) turning to their moms for guidance.

Do sparks ever fly? Uhmmm…yes! This is real life. Sometimes it’s messy, but mostly I see close, loving relationships in action.

How are you going to tell your Mom you love her this Mother’s Day? My mom’s love language is chocolate, so I’ll be sending her a box of her favorites. You can choose something expected or unexpected - I’m pretty sure your mom will be delighted either way as long as the sentiment is there.

From my heart to all of yours, Happy Mother’s Day!
