We Said Yes!
Someone’s down on one knee, a question is popped and – just like that – you’re engaged!
Cue whirlwind.
In the days that follow the big moment, you’ll want to stand on a mountain top and shout your happy news – or at least get a few quick ring posts up on social pronto.
And you’re not alone: An estimated 6 million couples get engaged on Valentine’s Day alone!
So what’s next?
- Pick a date and place. Pop a cork and break out the calendar. Given the uncertainties of the past few years, many couples have had to postpone weddings and receptions, so securing your dream locale may be a little more challenging and require some flexibility.
- Create Your Save-the-Date. You don’t need to know if Aunt Sadie will sit at the head table or who wants the aubergine timbales just yet. Amp up the anticipation by creating a save the date card that gives a sense of the destination and the vibe of the day. Include a happy photo, if you have one, especially if not everyone has met your intended.
- Send, send, send. You’ll want to let your future guests know about the date and venue as soon as you do. Save the dates should go out a good eight to 14 months before your big day, especially if you’re planning a destination wedding. Don’t fret: It doesn’t have to ‘match’ your wedding stationery. Opt for fun, not fonts.
- Mind your manners. Organized eager beavers will want to send a gift as soon as they receive your save the date. Be prepared with some thank you notes embossed with your names for shower and early wedding presents.
